Day 2 of #17DaysofGiveaways - Web Development Week
“If you are new to Joomla and web development, you can feel overwhelmed by acronyms, jargon, and new concepts.” explain Dexter and Landry. “However, with a little help and perseverance, you can succeed in writing code for Joomla to make it work just the way you want it to. Joomla is designed from the ground up to be modified and extended, and many people with limited technical knowledge have successfully learned to write programs for Joomla.
This book explains every new concept and topic as we proceed. We will not assume that you already know anything about Joomla or web development. As needed, we will point out more in- depth resources you can use to fill in gaps or explore topics in greater detail.”
Joomla! Programming is a book intended for the beginner as well as the experienced coder. It is a quick guide to the new versions of Joomla! – 1.6, 1.7, and 2.5. Authors Mark Dexter and Louis Landry have several years of Joomla! programming experience. Dexter began using Joomla! over two and a half years ago and has been a part of writing help documentation for the program in that time. In the Joomla! project, he is currently a Bug Squad Coordinator, a Development Coordinator, and the Administrator for the Joomla! Student Outreach Program (JSOP). Landry has been involved with many programming languages throughout his career, from x86 assembly to Java to PHP. He has been a major design architect for Joomla! for over five years and wrote much of the framework for versions 1.5 and 1.6.
