During the summer, Que's partner, SeniorNet, a not-for-profit organization teaching Seniors to use technology, asked us to participate in a national program led by SeniorNet and Microsoft. The program was designed to teach Seniors to familiarize themselves and become comfortable using Microsoft Windows 8. Workshops were held around the country at various Microsoft Stores. Microsoft supplied Surface tablets for each student to use during the sessions, while SeniorNet and Que supplied the workshop content.
Que's author, Michael Miller, built a lesson plan based on his book, My Windows 8 Computer for Seniors, along with some takeaway tips for the students to refer to at home. Using the lesson plan, we built a presentation filled with valuable information the instructors used during each workshop session. We also supplied relevant books as prizes for some lucky attendees!
We so value our wonderful partnership with SeniorNet, which has been designed to directly benefit the over one million clients SeniorNet has served since its start in 1986. SeniorNet members receive discounts on Que products and the use of technology books at learning centers, as well as access to special promotions, resources and content.
We're very happy to report the learning workshops were a success! Check out these quotes from some of the Microsoft Store Leaders, given to SeniorNet staff after the sessions:
"Our SeniorNet events were wonderful and we had over 50 guests attend during the two days! Ron, the presenter, was knowledgeable, personable, well-prepared, and overall amazing! We would really like to partner with SeniorNet again locally to host more workshops!" -- Kelly V.
"The SeniorNet workshops went great...This was a great opportunity for us to talk to a demographic which clearly has an interest in learning about technology and specifically Windows 8...Overall the attendees were happy and learned a lot and the event was a success." -- Rae E.
"On behalf of Microsoft Retail stores I would like to thank SeniorNet for a successful events partnership. The curriculum was well-received by workshop participants and the instructor feedback was extremely positive." -- Andrea L.
