This series of 100 lessons covers everything from basic features to system administration tasks. Most lessons run under five minutes, short enough to be digestible. I did not watch every lesson, but I did watch a significant majority. OK, I skipped Internet Explorer because I use Firefox. The major categories are the following: 1. Windows 7 Basics 2. Windows 7 Application Enhancements 3. Internet Explorer 8.0 4. Security Features 5. Control Panel Applications 6. Networking 7. Administrative Tools 8. System Settings 9. Windows 7 Performance Tools 10. Managing and Troubleshooting Windows I actually got a lot of value from the first five sections, other than IE8. And if you are transitioning from XP to Win7, this is very helpful. I had a limited exposure to Vista on other people's computers and found it extremely frustrating. What I learned from these lessons eliminated those frustrations. The second five... Read more

J. Peter Bruzzese's Mastering Windows 7 Training DVD briefly touches on the basics in 100 easy to understand lessons. Geared primarily for new and middle of the road users, these relatively quick but useful nibbles of information touch on the very core of Windows 7.The instruction segments are a little over 90 seconds to a full five minutes. For me personally I would've liked more of an in depth data dump but I do understand the target group. I like the format and direction of this video. One of the nicer feeds is the improved download performance of Windows 7. Thirty seconds is definitely a plus from the older lineup of Microsoft platforms. This well scripted lesson plan can easily be referenced from one chapter to the next. It covers new enhancements, networks, security, admin tools, settings, trouble shooting and more. As a Firefox user, the Internet Explorer 8 segment did nothing for me but I do recommend that IE8 users view this informative segment... Read more

If you are a Windows Vista or XP user, and you are looking for a video introduction to Windows 7, this is a compact, concise, helpful and practical video guide! If you never used Windows before, this tutorial does not teach you Windows 7 from the ground-up. It is best suited for users of previous versions of Windows who want to get up to speed with Windows 7.The tutorial is delivered on a DVD-ROM (as the product title states) so you can only play it on a computer. You cannot play it in your DVD or Blu-Ray player! The program runs directly from the DVD-ROM disc. Included on the disc is a 134-page PDF file that is a companion to each lesson in the video. The lessons happen in window with a fixed size of 800x600. You cannot resize the window! It features 100 lessons, most of them running between 3-5 minutes. Each lesson starts with a very short overview and then jumps right in. The teaching style is very even-keeled and on-topic, almost documentary... Read more |
